Greg Franck-WeibyThe moneyer of Silberbyrg, known is the SCA as Ian Cnulle, is modernly known as Greg Franck-Weiby, whose address is Silverton, Oregon. The knighthead penny was the first type he made steel coining dies for, back in 1990. These coins are hand struck with a #4 hammer on blanks made of 'pewter' (actually 95/5 leadless solder, i.e. 95% tin, 5% antimony). Lord Ian is the Minister of the Moneyers' Guild of (the SCA Kingdom of) An Tir. Several other moneyers he has trained over the years have made similar long cross dies with their own names on them for minting various penny size coins. More of a numismatist than an artist for the sake of art, G.P. Franck-Weiby dabbled in linoleum block prints before discovering medieval moneying in the SCA and coin die work as the medium for following his bliss.
