This Gothic style bench is based on benches shown in many paintings and sculptures from the middle ages. Such benches are common in depictions of the Annunciation such as one by Gerard David, dating to 1502 in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, #50.145.9ab. This style bench is appropriate for the fourteenth through 16th century.
Our version of the bench is fully collapsible and contains no easy-to-lose pins. It makes a wonderful piece of household furniture, but is also portable enough to take to reenactment events. It is available in alder, cherry, and walnut. Other woods and sizes available on request, if you have an idea please feel free to ask us. The bench is hand crafted and finished with a lush natural oil and wax finish. Gothic Benches are made to order, and they may take up to four to six weeks to ship.
Please note: We will not be able to ship this with USPS Priority Flat Rate Shipping even though the option will still appear on the checkout page. We will contact you with the shipping price after the order has been placed.
